Scotland face Hungary needing win to make Euro 2024 history
All the latest UEFA EURO Group stage match information including stats form history and more.
Scotland head into Tuesday’s must-win Euro 2024 Group A clash against Hungary with belief that they can make history in Budapest. Steve Clarke’s team know anything less than a victory at the Puskas Arena will end their hopes of reaching the knockout stages for the first time at a major finals.
That’s the only target for Clarke’s men after their 2-0 defeat by the Czech Republic in their opening match at Hampden Park on Saturday.
That result was sandwiched between Hungary’s 3-0 Group A win over Kazakhstan and a 1-1 draw with Serbia.
Scotland haven’t qualified for a knockout stage of a major finals since 1998 but they have taken heart from Hungary’s ability to secure a historic qualification for the first EURO finals since 1972. Just three teams remain in the EURO to know their final position, including Scotland, Hungary and Kazakhstan. Scotland will now head to Budapest looking to keep their EURO dreams alive.
The Group A leaders Czech Republic will fancy their chances of wrapping up qualification against Serbia in their final fixture in Prague.
