Ridley Scott Teases He’s “Already Toying” With ‘Gladiator 3’

Will Russell Crowe Return as Maximus?

Gladiator, the historical epic that won five Academy Awards, was released 23 years ago. Now, director Ridley Scott is teasing the possibility of a third installment. In a recent interview with Deadline, Scott revealed that he’s “already toying” with the idea of Gladiator 3. “I’m not going to say yes [to Gladiator 3] and I’m not going to say no,” Scott said. “I’m just saying, ‘Could we? Maybe.’ Look, I don’t want to be greedy here, but this is an idea that we’ve had for ten years.”

Who Could Star in ‘Gladiator 3’?

If Gladiator 3 does happen, it’s unclear whether Russell Crowe would return as Maximus Decimus Meridius. Crowe was 35 years old when Gladiator was released, and he’s now 58. However, Scott has said that he would be willing to use de-aging technology to make Crowe look younger in the film. “We’re trying to get Russell in shape to do it,” Scott said. “He’s still in pretty good shape.”

Another possibility is that Gladiator 3 could focus on a different character, such as Lucius, Maximus’s son. Lucius was played by Spencer Treat Clark in the original film, and he is now 33 years old. Scott has said that he is interested in exploring the character of Lucius further. “I think there’s a story to be told about Lucius and what happens to him after the death of his father,” Scott said.

What Could ‘Gladiator 3’ Be About?

The plot of Gladiator 3 is still unknown, but Scott has said that he wants to make a film that is “relevant to the times.” He has also said that he is interested in exploring the themes of “power, corruption, and redemption.”

Gladiator 3 is still in the early stages of development, and it’s unclear when it will be released. However, Scott’s comments suggest that he is serious about making the film. Gladiator fans will be eagerly awaiting more news about the project.
